I'm not sure if I will be able to watch SC2 again at this point. His absence from the SC2 scene, and from my life, will leave a massive void that I doubt any other personality will be able to fill. Even when I didn't care about a matchup, didn't care about the current meta, or the players involved, I knew if Geoff was casting I was going to have a good time. His presence made SC2 so much more enjoyable. I knew him more than I would ever thought I could know a 'stranger'. I have listened to him cast games, listened to his opinions on SC2, its community, the state of the industry, and the hundreds of other random topics he's discussed over time. I was a subscriber to his stream, and was a big time patreon supporter of the pylon show. Because the truth is, althought I think of him as someone distant, this is someone I have been around for nearly a decade through SC2, Geoff was brought into my PC room and my living room on a regular basis. I happened across it today after work, and laid in my bed and cried reading through responses, especially Jaedong's, and Rotterdam's story of finding out in China with Nick, Dan, and Yoan. I have never met Geoff, and would not have thought of him as a friend, more of just an entertainer.īut man reading this news was devastating. I am not a person who gets attached to people I don't actually know, and honestly haven't even watched Geoff's stream or Starcraft in general in about 8 months. Geoff's passing is having an extremely weird effect on me. Just want to say thanks to Sean, JP, Artosis, etc. I am forever grateful to Geoff and his friends for being there for me in a dark time. Hearing a group of friends enjoying themselves while discussing a game they love gave me the strength to continue on and find my own happiness. On numerous occasions, I burst uncontrollably into laughter while walking the trails by myself. One of the biggest standouts on the show was Geoff and his knack for making people laugh. Every night when I was away from my kids I would take long walks and listen to State of the Game podcast. I watched State of the Game and Day 9 religiously for a couple of years and on to Roll Play after.ĭidn't know Geoff personally but when I was going through my divorce almost a decade ago, he played an integral part of me keeping my sanity. Starcraft 2 got me through one of the rougher parts of my lift and in no small part because of people life Geoff and Sean. r/wow /r/diablo /r/hearthstone /r/heroesofthestorm /r/overwatchĪdmittedly I haven't followed much gaming stuff the past 5 years or so but Geoff's passing really hits me hard. ![]() Same- and similar-topic submissions that exceed 4 per top 25 Promotional submissions that exceed "2 per 1 per 1"ĭuplicate results posts for the same individual match will be removed.
